Last updated: July 23, 2026 GPhC Standard Compliant

Delivery Standards & Patient Safety

As a registered NHS distance selling pharmacy operating under the regulations of the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), Market Street Pharmacy ensures that all human medicines and medical devices are dispatched, handled, and delivered safely, securely, and in accordance with GDP (Good Distribution Practice) guidelines.

We use discreet, unbranded, and tamper-evident packaging for all deliveries to protect patient confidentiality and preserve medicine integrity throughout transit.

Online Orders & Private Prescriptions

For private orders and online pharmacy purchases, we offer fast and trackable courier services across England. We aim to process and dispatch all approved orders within 24 hours:

Royal Mail Tracked 24

£3.99

Standard tracked delivery service. Free for orders over £40. Delivered within 1–2 working days.

Special Delivery / DPD Next Day

£9.99

Express tracked service delivered the next working day (usually before 1:00 PM or 12:00 PM).

Temperature-Controlled & Cold-Chain Delivery

To satisfy GPhC standards for biological and cold-chain products (e.g., insulin, weight management injections), refrigerated items are packed in specialized temperature-monitored insulation capable of keeping medicines between 2°C and 8°C.

  • Dispatch Schedule: Temperature-controlled orders are dispatched Monday to Friday only to prevent delays over weekends. Saturday delivery can be arranged upon request.
  • Patient Responsibility: The recipient must ensure cold-chain items are unpacked immediately upon receipt and placed into a home refrigerator.

How Long Does It Take to Receive My NHS Medication?

As soon as we receive your electronic prescription from your GP surgery via the NHS Electronic Prescription Service (EPS), our qualified clinical team dispenses it without delay.

Greater Manchester & Local Area

If you live locally in Manchester or surrounding areas, your medicines are normally delivered the same or next day by our dedicated pharmacy delivery team. For clinically urgent items (such as urgent antibiotics), we prioritize same-day delivery.

Rest of England

Your medicines are dispatched using Royal Mail or DPD 24-hour tracked services to your preferred address. Wherever possible, we use letterbox-friendly packaging so you do not need to wait at home.

Urgent Medicine Request: If you require medication urgently (e.g., acute antibiotics or end-of-life care), please contact our team immediately on 0161 370 3999 so we can arrange the fastest and safest route.

Do I Need to Be at Home for My Delivery?

We do not want you to cancel appointments or disrupt your day waiting for a delivery.

  • Letterbox Packaging: For standard Royal Mail deliveries, we utilize slimline parcels designed to fit through standard UK letterboxes. If a parcel is too large, Royal Mail will leave a notification card detailing how to arrange a re-delivery or collection.
  • Safe Place / Local Delivery: For local driver deliveries, medication can be posted or left in a pre-agreed safe place, with a designated neighbour, carer, or at your workplace upon request.
  • Controlled Drugs & Signed-For Items: In compliance with GPhC regulations, Controlled Drugs (CDs) and certain high-risk medications cannot be left unattended and must be signed for by the patient or an authorized person aged 18 or older.

How Much Does NHS Delivery Cost?

Our NHS prescription delivery service is 100% free of charge for all eligible NHS patients in England. You pay no fees for the processing or delivery provided by Market Street Pharmacy. Standard charges apply only to non-NHS/private orders as listed above.

Service Coverage & Geographic Availability

We receive electronic prescriptions via NHS England’s Electronic Prescription Service (EPS). Consequently, our NHS prescription service is exclusively available to patients registered with a GP surgery in England.

We are currently unable to dispense NHS EPS prescriptions for patients located in Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands, or the Isle of Man.
